Let’s get into it.

Go-to-Market in Web3: New Mindsets, Tactics, Metrics. While not everything has changed in web3, new business models require new go-to-market strategies. This piece from a16z covers the GTM strategies and tactics for all sorts of web3 companies, from centralized marketplaces like OpenSea to decentralized protocols like Uniswap. This is a much read for founders and users alike. GREAT READ 💊

Web3 Creator Onboarding. Web3 is supposed to be liberating for creators, but onboarding into the space isn’t easy. Cooper Turley lays out a fantastic gameplan around how creators should think about onboarding into web3, key considerations (reputation, time vs. money, etc.), and common roadblocks. This is also relevant for web3-natives who are looking to start creating. FANTASTIC RESOURCE 📌

How DAOs can diversify their treasury. Every DAO is thinking about treasury diversification. In this essay, Shreyas from Llama explores some best practices for thinking about and executing on treasury diversification, from token swaps to USDC raises to DeFi and more. There are also some very underexplored strategies such as borrowing against your native token, which seems less relevant for the long-tail of DAOs who struggle with liquidity. SUSTAINABLE RIDE 🎢

Democratizing Credit Ratings. Credit Ratings have a bad rep, but Mert from PrimeDAO explores what a decentralized credit rating system might look like (based on Prime Rating) and how it may be net beneficial to society. This is a fascinating take on the history of credit scores, how neoliberalism has created the worst version of the idea, and how web3 could potentially fix it. Prime Rating is already doing fantastic work with DeFi protocol ratings, and it seems like there is much more to come. (3,3) RATINGS ⭐️

What the History of Democracy Can Teach Us About Blockchain Governance.  DAOs (obviously) aren’t the first time people have experimented with democratic organizations. This piece lays out some key lessons we can learn from the history of democracy, including simplifying voting, encouraging delegation, and developing term limits. While some of the ideas in this piece are widely known, the DAO landscape has quite a ways to go before we adopt even these lessons. TAKE NOTES 📝

Web 3 & The Curse of Solutionism. “How to avoid building bullshit products in crypto.” Jason Choi tells it like it is in this essay, highlighting ways that web3 builders have fallen into a trap of building products for the sake of building products, rather than building for customers. He argues that crypto products of the past were often going after low-hanging fruit, but we no longer have that luxury today as the market becomes more robust and needs are plentiful. A great reality check for founders and builders in the space. SPICY TAKE 🌶

Aave Announces decentralized social media: Lens Protocol. There has been lots of talk around “web3 social” over the last year, and this week, Aave took its first stab at it. Lens Protocol is a decentralized social media protocol centered around some familiar primitives: posts, profiles, etc. However, all of this data is portable between any platform that uses Lens, potentially changing the game for web2 social media in the long-run. Awesome stuff from the Aave team. LOOKS PROMISING 🌱

US government seizes $3.6 billion in bitcoin tied to 2016 hack of Bitfinex. This story was all over Twitter this week and it was… wild. Bad rappers, weird bios, and a $3.6B heist, the Bitfinex hack has the makings of the next great American film. If you haven’t already seen this, make sure you check out the memes after reading this piece. WILD INDEED 💸

Social Tokens Index Fact Sheets
