Let’s get into it.

What co-ops and DAOs can Learn From Each Other. DAOs are many things, but they are not entirely new. There is a rich history of worker-owned organizations and regional currencies across the world that we can learn from as we build the future of DAOs. In this piece, friend-of-Forefront Austin Robey explains what DAOs and co-ops can learn from each other, including more ambitious definitions of ownership – something the FF community has been thinking about deeply. FANTASTIC READ 🔥

Social Tokens and the Future of Work. If there’s anyone who knows social tokens, it’s Coinvise Community Lead and Forefront contributor Eliot Couvat. In this piece for Bankless, Eliot explores how social tokens might usher in new forms of work, allowing for more flexible compensation and ownership, incentive-alignment, and decentralized trust. For anyone wondering where the value lies in a social token, this is a great read. SPOT ON DIVE 🔬

How to Get a Job in Web3. Web3 is weird… in a good way. The old ways of hiring, contributing, and finding jobs are no longer completely relevant (at least that's the direction we are heading to). This thread from Mason Nystrom does a great job of explaining how to get a job in Web3, with a focus on consistency, networking, and just showing up and doing the work! GREAT GUIDE 💼

Decentraland: The Metaverse's Early Mover. Before there was Meta, there was Decentraland. Mario from The Generalist is always a must read, and this essay is a deep dive on Decentraland’s meteoric rise. "There is only one metaverse," says Mario, but this is just the beginning. Whether Decentraland ends up winning in the long-term remains to be seen, but it is clear that the metaverse is here to stay. BULLISH VIBES 🎯

Coinbase Thoughts about the Metaverse. With all of the metaverse hype, it’s useful to understand how companies are thinking about this new opportunity. For Coinbase, they see themselves as creating an "identity on-ramp into the Metaverse." This is their reasoning behind being actively involved in ENS, they say. Coinbase aside, this essay does a great job of breaking down the key elements of the metaverse and what it will take to build it. BIASED BUT INTERESTING 🧭

Looks Rare. LooksRare, the new decentralized NFT trading platform that recently airdropped tokens to OpenSea users, is definitely gaining traction as users see what a community-owned OpenSea alternative can look like. Bankless breaks down OpenSea’s rise and dominance, LooksRare’s threat, and the NFT market more broadly. POWERFUL INCENTIVES 💸

Rally in 2021. Rally absolutely dominated 2021. Of the 266 creators on their platform, more than 77% have created six-figure token communities. Over $79M of Rally has been disseminated to creators. This impressive growth sets strong momentum heading into 2022, with social tokens set to fly even higher. IMPRESSIVE YEAR 📈

The Morning Brew on JUMP. JUMP came out of Seed Club as the first "tokenized community for marketing and advertising professionals." They are exploring key questions around Web3 and DAO marketing, which will only become more important if the space is to truly go mainstream. The community is looking to become a decentralized web3 marketing agency, helping to solve the unique problems that come at this novel intersection. TIME TO JUMP 🪂

China-backed Blockchain Services Network eyes NFTs. China’s Blockchain Services Network will now support NFTs, that can be purchased in exchange for Chinese yuan. Just one condition – the NFTs can’t be tied to a public blockchain. Instead, these NFTs will be made available on an "open permissioned blockchain," seemingly controlled by the state. WORKS TOO 👀
