Let’s get into it.

The Future of Work is Not Corporate — It’s DAOs and Crypto Networks. For the first time since the dawn of the corporation, DAOs will enable a fundamentally different form of and relationship to work. This will take the form of x-to-earn activities: play-to-earn, contribute-to-earn, etc. In this piece, Ben Schecter explains how DAOs will bring about this future and where roadblocks may lay. THE X-TO-EARN ECONOMY 💅

The Internet of Jobs is coming. Read these two pieces back-to-back. Kevin Owocki of Gitcoin explores the “Internet of Jobs” and argues that it will be the thing that takes web3 mainstream. Unlike the gig economy, the IoJ is Global, Immutable, Transparent, Governable by Communities, and Efficient – all thanks to Ethereum and other blockchains. FUTURISTICALLY BULLISH ⏳

What’s Next for Friends With Benefits? We see FWB, we read. Coindesk covers FWB’s recent spike in popularity, the market dynamics that coincided, and how the DAO is planning to move forward. From awesome parties to WAGMI mentality, this piece covers it all, concluding with a reaffirmation of FWB’s goals: to attract and foster community with some of the most creative minds in and out of web3. BULLISH 😇

Why it’s too early to get excited about Web3. This piece from O’reilly asks, “where are we in the web3 hype cycle?”. Taking lessons from previous tech bubbles, most importantly the dot-com bubble of the late 90s, this essay is a deep dive into where innovation is happening, what impact is being made, and what work is left to be done. SPICY 🌶

Great Protocol Politics. A crypto piece in Foreign Policy magazine… interesting. Balaji Srinivasan and Parag Khanna argue we are shifting from a world of geopolitics to one of "techno-politics." Rather than arguing that states are irrelevant, the duo claims that states will be relevant based on how much they embrace and compete on the lines of technological progress, including the 10 trends listed in this essay. A RACE TO RELEVANCE 🧭

Shopify Launching NFT Platform. You can now mint and sell your own NFTs on Shopify. This announcement is a huge step for the company in embracing web3 tech as a critical part of the future of ecommerce. Additionally, the use-cases are endless, from membership management to airdrops and more. We’re excited to see how Shopify continues to push forward in bringing crypto to the mainstream. MAJOR MOVE 🛣

The Future of NFTs Is Fungible. In this essay, Joon Ian Wong digs further into the NFT vs. fungible social token debate, with help from Jess Sloss of Seed Club: “If a creator has a community of fans looking to create something bigger and more broad than the work of that creator, then a fungible token makes a lot of sense.” Forefront agrees, and we’re excited to continue building the future of community tokens. Adidas Originals nets $23m after closing its first NFT drop. Big brands are diving into NFTs at an insane pace, and Adidas is no exception. They pulled in $23M in revenue this week after their first NFT drop alongside BAYC. The "metaverse" is hot even outside of web3 right now, so expect more drops like this in the near future. THE ETH PORTAL 🔮

Bitwise launches the first Blue-Chip NFT Index Fund. It’s difficult to develop a long-term NFT investing strategy, but Bitwise is giving it a shot. They’ve launched a Blue-Chip NFT Index Fund, including the likes of CryptoPunks, BAYC, Fidenzas, and more. Crypto culture is here to stay, and this index is a great representation of how it’s developed this year. 2022 TREND 👀
